Tour of Transylvania's Countryside: Sighisoara Citadel & Fortified Villages I did the "Tour of Transylvania's Countryside" with Florin in the beginning of November. We visited the salt mine in Turda, the fortified church of Biertan and Sighisoara Citadel. Florin picked me up at my accommodation in Cluj in the morning and dropped me off there in the evening. It was a wonderful, informative day, and thanks to Florin's broad historical knowledge, I learned a lot and saw many beautiful buildings and sights. Florin also gave me many interesting anecdotes about the country and the people of Romania and had an answer to all of my questions. Of course, you can visit all those places on your own, but the background information, which I received on the tour with Florin, are invaluable and probably not retrievable in a travel book. Since I was travelling alone, I was a bit worried before the ride – will we have something to talk about in these 10 hours? Will it be awkward to sit in a car with a complete stranger? But these concerns were totally unfounded! I recommend the tour without restrictions; it was definitively the highlight of my whole trip!see more
3 Days at an Eco-Friendly Mountain Cabin: Hiking, Wildlife & Nature We really loved our time on this trip. It was absolutely magical to be up in the mountains, hiking in the wild, and staying in this beautiful cabin. Cristian was our guide. The man knows everything! He answered every question we had about the foundation, the park, Romania's history, our surroundings. We were stunned. He was so friendly, sorted my girlfriend out with some vegan nibbles, and wine for us upon arrival, and checked in with us every step of the way, giving us an amazing hike that was both manageable and comfortably challenging, for two hiking novices. He was able to tell us about the paw prints in the snow, the trees, the call of the birds, a genuinely lovely man. The cabin itself is very cool, surrounded by a most dramatic background of mountains, lakes and forest. It snowed all day before we had arrived, so be warned the cabin can be very cold when you arrive, or when you're leaving, but heats up so so quickly and it's the cosiest place once it does -despite the flies, who also seem to love the heat! We were also really grateful to be picked up and dropped off so conveniently, and the entire experience was an adventure we were delighted to have tried. Certainly hoping to try something similar in future. Many thanks to Romanian Friend for answering our questions before booking and making sure everything goes smooth. A highly recommended experience!see more
Road trip on Transfagarasan Highway Another great adventure with Romanian Friend! Our experience has always been that you feel as though you are out with a long time friend. Bogdan knew so much about the area and its history, things that you just don't find in any guide book. We experienced three seasons in one day. The Transfagarasan is just spectacular.see more

Short Bear Watching Experience from Brasov Romanian Friend was excellent to deal with and very good at communicating with me with regards to my booking. The guides were good to talk with and knowledgable about all wildlife in Romania, they were punctual and friendly. We saw 3 bears including a cub which was brilliant and the walk though the forest to reach the hide was also very pleasurable. Highly recommend this service.see more
Agro-Tourism in Transylvania: Food & Village Life at a Local Farm This was a restful break in our 3-week trip. Our guide Iulia was a wealth of information. The highlight of this was the 3-hour horse cart ride through rolling hills and forests. We didn't want it to end. I also appreciated that the organization that owns the farm believes in operating a sustainable farm and acting as a role model. Early morning walk through the village, a visit to the local fortified church and cemetery, seeing the horses running and playing in the large pasture, meeting the heritage Hungarian gray cattle herd, playing with the resident cat and dogs, the list of small delights goes on. A great experience, thank you!see more
Medieval Castles of Transylvania Tour: Bran, Rasnov and Peles Our guide was very knowledgeable about all three of the sites that we visited. The sites were all so different. Peles-ornate, over-the-top, Bran-much more simple but decorated for Halloween, and Rasnov-ruins with a great hilltop view. Our guide knew several spots from which to take some pretty cool photos and drove us down side streets to find these spots. Just be aware that you need to pay extra to take pictures inside of Peles. We bought postcards instead!see more
