Exact starting point and time of tour will be agreed after your booking is confirmed.
We also recommend you bring a bottle of water.
We will be walking mostly outdoors in the Upper and Lower Old Town.
We start our tour in Sibiu's oldest library where I will tell you how the region's particularities influenced local cuisine. Then, we head to Cibin Food Market where you will taste typical cheese from the area, Sibiu's famous sheep pastrami, Bazna pork bacon and some local wines. And browse through many food products - all homemade and homegrown by the locals!
Next, we head to a gourmet restaurant where traditional recipes from Transylvania are reinterpreted, so we understand how gastronomy evolved over the years. You will get an introduction to Romanian sweet and sour soups, the everyday meal of the locals and taste the delicious reinterpretation of a 200-year-old Shepard recipe before being delighted with a glass of tuica - the traditional Romanian drink.
And since no meal is complete without a desert, our final stop will be in a private household garden where we will try a delicious homemade tarte or pie with the season's wild fruits gathered from the alpine meadows and forests from the mountains around Sibiu - which you can see in the distance!
