Join me on this charming bike trip in the hills of North-Western Transylvania where we will visit a quiet and (still) undiscovered beautiful region locals call 'The gates of Transylvania!' We will bike through open valleys and rolling hills to admire the views and then stop for a wine tasting at a boutique producer and a well-deserved delicious traditional dish of gulyas!

What you need to know about this bike & wine tour from Cluj-Napoca

This is a private tour starting from Cluj-Napoca for small groups. Duration: 8-10 hours. Minimum required booking: 2 people
Included: transfer from Cluj-Napoca to Varsolt by car, bike & helmet rental, snacks, wine tasting and gulyas dinner
From Varsolt we will bike to Carastelec aprox. 30 km on countryside asphalt road; medium difficulty at a leisurely pace
You will admire the beauty of Transylvania in a lesser known region and see how the locals live while passing through local villages
We will enjoy a wine tasting at a boutique local vineyard and then a dish of gulyas - a regional & traditional vegetable and meat stew!

From Varsolt we start biking into the picturesque valleys of Salaj county. On our way we will get some fantastic views of the surrounding area, with lots of rolling hills, Varsolt lake and the Carpathian Mts. in the distance. Beautiful, clean and peaceful nature!

Originally from Hungary - also called Goulash or Paprikas, this spicy vegetable and meat (chicken or beef) fire slow-cooked stew is very popular in the region because of its unique taste. Austrians and Romanians and others have their own interpretation of this recipe but one thing is sure - it's always delicious!
